Recommended Databases

These databases are collections of information organized for easy access and used to retrieve archived magazine or journal articles for research purposes.  Our library subscribes to several databases for student research.

WebPath Express - Can be accessed through Destiny, the library OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), and links to approved outside resources on various topics.

Access PA/Power Library - Database that accesses libraries all across Pennsylvania.  Offers books, movies, periodicals, and even assistance from a professional librarian.

EBSCOhost - A database that provides current and archived periodicals and information texts on a variety of subjects.  Access can be granted through Access PA/Power Library.

Google Scholar - Provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources, articles, theses, books, abstracts, and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities, and other web sites. Google Scholar helps you find relevant work across the world of scholarly research.

Research Guides Pathfinder - This is not a database, but links to other research guides/databases.  Sponsored by the University of Delaware, which provides access to Library resources organized by subject.  They point to article databases, websites, research strategies, and more.

Library of Congress - Government run website that has accurate historical information including documents, photographics, periodicals, etc. The Memory Collection provides acces to images, audio, files, videos, maps, and sheet music that demonstrate the American experience.
